Cashman Nursery receives sod weekly starting in the early spring.  Each roll of sod is 2’ wide and 6’9” long, or about 13.5 square feet.  Sod is sold by the roll, or for larger projects, you can reserve full pallets of sod.  There are 60 rolls of sod on a pallet, totaling 810 square feet.  Once sod is picked up at the nursery, it must be laid down immediately, to prevent the sod from ‘burning up’ in the heat, which leads to scorching and often, kills the sod.  Once the sod is laid out, heavy watering is essential, so the sod takes root.  Depending on the time of the year, temperature and winds, we recommend that sod be watered in 15-25 minute intervals 3-6 times a day for the first 10-15 days, allowing the sod to fully take root and become established.  To reserve your sod pallets, call the nursery.  Remember, “Green Side Up!”

Late in the summer, when the heat starts to set in, customers may notice bugs and diseases starting to appear on various plants in their yard.  Never fear!  Let our expert staff identify and instruct you how to treat these issues!  Stay tuned; soon we will post the “Hall of Shame,” illustrating examples of common problems found in shrubs and trees in our area.  Cashman’s has an entire chemical line and offers organic products when available.
